Marine Technology

  • Build and operate marine system mock-ups (plumbing, steering, propulsion, electronics, etc.) 

  • Perform repairs, systems work and upgrades on small sail and power vessels.

  • Tear down, reassemble and run an inboard or outboard engine.

Description

Marine Technology is a one-year Marine Systems and boat maintenance program that provides students with a solid base of skills for an entry level position into the marine industry, either aboard vessels or in a boatbuilding or maintenance/repair facility. Areas of focus are boat handling and safety, engine maintenance, drive systems for inboard and outboard engines, electrical and plumbing systems, electronics installation, and working with marine materials (wood, metal, and composites).
