Mid-Coast School of Technology is proud to announce the induction of 27 students into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) for the 2024-2025 academic year. The ceremony honored these outstanding students who demonstrated excellence in both their career and technical education (CTE) programs and their academic pursuits. The NTHS group was led by advisor, Monique Moreau.
What is the National Technical Honor Society?
The National Technical Honor Society is a prestigious organization that recognizes and honors students for outstanding achievement in career and technical education. The organization’s mission is to encourage high scholastic achievement, cultivate a desire for knowledge, and promote the ideals of honesty, service, and leadership.
Qualifications for Membership
To be considered for induction, students were required to meet rigorous criteria that showcased their commitment to academic and professional excellence. The qualifications for membership included:
- Academic Excellence: Students were required to maintain a high GPA, demonstrating their dedication to success in both their academic courses and their CTE programs.
- Character: Candidates were expected to exhibit strong personal character, including integrity, respect, and a positive attitude.
- Leadership: Students were required to demonstrate leadership qualities within their programs and the broader school community.
- Citizenship: A commitment to good citizenship and service was a key component of the NTHS.
- Teacher Recommendation: Each student was required to receive a letter of recommendation from their current CTE teacher, attesting to their skills, work ethic, and potential.
A Commitment to Success and Community

“We were incredibly proud of this year’s inductees,” said Mid-Coast Director, Bobby Deetjen. “These 27 students represented the best of what Mid-Coast School of Technology offers. Their ability to excel in both the hands-on environment of their CTE programs and the traditional academic space was a testament to their hard work and dedication. We believe that this combination of skills will be a powerful force in their future careers, propelling them toward great success.”

This year, the NTHS group also extended its commitment to the community by raising approximately $600 for the AIO Food Pantry in Rockland. AIO (Area Interfaith Outreach) is a local organization dedicated to providing essential support to individuals and families in the Midcoast region. Their food pantry offers a lifeline to those facing food insecurity, ensuring that community members have access to nutritious meals. AIO also provides emergency assistance for heating and other critical needs, underscoring their vital role in the well-being of the community.
The induction ceremony took place on May 15th at 6pm in the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Family, friends, and faculty attended to celebrate the achievements of these exceptional students.
