Mid-Coast School of Technology (MCST) recently hosted a Career Prep Summit for approximately 100 Career Prep and ACES students from partner schools Camden Hills, Oceanside, and Medomak. The summit brought students together with 20 local business and industry leaders for a day of hands-on career development.
The event, organized by School-to-Career teachers Jenna Blakey, Lisa Mejias, and Laura Tracy, featured interactive sessions designed to equip students with essential skills for the workforce. Students participated in workshops such as “Get Hired & Succeed at Work,” “Rock Your Interview,” and “Mo’ Money,” which covered everything from interview techniques to personal finance.

Business professionals were enthusiastic about the event, with one participant commenting, “It’s great having the community prepare our young people for the workforce in an interactive way.” The summit provided a unique opportunity for students to network, practice interviewing, and gain valuable insights directly from industry experts.
Student feedback highlighted the event’s impact. Attendees reported learning about a variety of topics, including the importance of attendance, how to invest money, and the wide range of career opportunities available to them after high school.
The Career Prep Summit is a cornerstone of MCST’s commitment to bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future careers.
