

Each year the Culinary and Baking & Pastry classes begin the year with safety. The food industry utilizes the National Restaurant Association and their programs to provide training and certifications. The students at Mid-Coast School of Technology are trained and complete the ServSafe Food Handler Certification. There are a few other certifications, however, the Food Handler is entry level and most applicable to our programming.
All students this year have successfully obtained their Food Handler Certification. They have added it to their portfolio and it will be valid for a 3 year period. Some local restaurants have given raises to the students for their certification. The entirety of both the Culinary and Baking & Pastry classes hold the ServSafe Food Handler Certification.
